More!

So yeah, probably going to be seeing a LOT of BK related things. Super fun forums. And the contests and stuff have been the pick-me-up my style/creativity has been yearning for. Anyhoo, case in point, cool little contest was held recently for Cybunny's uber cool girl Raven. This is my rendition of her in sketch form:

Been perfecting my sketch style lately. This is actually the 3rd gen sketch. Been messily sketching, tracing over for more definite lines, then sketching over AGAIN for something much more refined, adding shadows as I go. Below is the finished product(sooo glad Cy was happy with it^^):

All in all it was a lot of fun to do; not a design I would have come up with myself so it was refreshingly different! Also, the majority of the colors being black made me stretch my brain a bit. Not used to having to differentiate dark colors. I was totally seeing myself just having one indecipherable blob, and Raven's description is so pretty I think I would have slapped myself if I had done that. In the end, the only thing that got lost was the headband among the hair(probably my favorite part of the piece, personally).

I think I'm going to keep going with other things i do in the same way I did this particular piece. The coloring style was actually a suggestion from Ray i.e. sketch and shade everything first, then just add the color. I debated with myself to add shading or not with the other tools and in the end I decided not to. I like the whole unfinished look it gives.

ZOMG Nose!

So anyway, got a chance to draw during lunch at work. Drew a dragon, Veld(I've decided Veld is not quite a 'she' and more of an 'it'), Deela though she looks more like Apathy(a very old character of mine from another story; I just might draw her sometime), Khord, an angel thingie and OMG A NOSE! Yeah yeah, not thrilling but yes it is!
Seriously I can't draw noses. I cheese the hell out of them. But look! Center of the paper! NOSE!
Ohhh yes. Improvement is happening!

Not dead I swear

WHEW! Busy month has it been. I've been roaming around Bunny Kingdom an awful lot lately(alias Nymine muwah; I made up the name cuz its fun to say NYYYMINE^^) . And so I've been busy. Just not posting here. I also got some tips with both my Flash and Photoshop coloring. Dwee! Here's a few things I've done:

This I drew for an art thread, 'Draw the Bunny Above You'. The bunny above me was Attackat! I made the shading on part of the dress a tad dark.

This I drew for the May monthly contest! It's theme is Jungle King/Queen. I couldn't help myself, and had to draw both. Interesting note: The monkey WAS supposed to be a macak but came out more spider. Probably because spider monkeys are totally cool. Very proud of both expressions.

And this is a character I made up for a tenative rollplay that hasn't started yet. Khord Michaels. He's a dragon-half. Kind of a jerk and a tacky dresser. Note the zebra overshirt. Got some tips from Anand Duncan(!!!) on Flash and am testing some of them out here. Falling in love with that program.

What doll?

I'm a big fan of Norse mythology(probably easily my favorite mythology), and so the discovery of Brat-halla was a pleasant one. Absolutely love all of the renditions in there, especially Hod(my favorite from the Norse pantheon). For those not familiar, the SHORT version is that Hod is the god of Winter, and was born blind. I'm saying 'short' version because I could probably type on about this subject for about forever. Is it bad that the fact that his eyes never point in the same direction makes me giggle?

Anyway, couldn't help myself. Hod and Loki from said comic. Loki plays with Barbies. So here he is with Hod. Because blind kids can't judge.

I love that comic.

Test test

Trying out more digital things. Mostly monotonal. All working towards my story rattling around in my head. That's right! I'm finally mustering up enough courage to put a comic esque idea on the web. Scandal! Or possibly a farfetched plan to rule the universe? Probably both.

Anyway. This is a artistic attempt at Lokkran, Ageless Elder. It's not bad.

Also: How the heck did it take me this long to find Velvet Revolver? Holy crap they rock out loud!

Introducing Fortessa

So anyway, still working on my idea. Needed a good rival/villan type to foil Deela and all of her Captain America shining goodness of right and truth. So here she is. The siren I was working on, formally introduced, now dubbed Fortessa! Wanted someone who would give Dee a run for her money in all aspects and well, Fortessa kind of smokes her really. The gun in her right hand is primitive tech; through science it can command the elements, so any spell Deela can throw(which originally gives her an advantage), Fortessa can counter and pretty much throw back at her.

Chris said looking at Fortessa you can really see how many comics I've read. I'm not quite sure what that means, but I think it's a compliment?

Below is what started out as a comparison between the two to make sure I was drawing them differently enough(tend to give my females all the same shape). Wound up also making it sort of a 'Deela loses again' thing. Think it works. Oh and Fortessa is ambidexterous. 'Cuz I said so.

Choco chick with colors!

And that about does it for me and chocobos for now. Still hooray!

Choco chick with inks!

Hooray for more digital inking! Love all the different textures I'm getting out of switching those brushes. *is addicted to the wet brush* Also: I love baby chocobos. They're all beak and feet.
